Wonder Park – A Cute Film for Imaginative Kids

😀😀😀⚪️⚪️⚪️

Last night I saw Wonder Park, the latest movie from Nickelodeon Studios which opened in theaters everywhere today.  Wonder Park is a fanciful movie about June (Sofia Mali & Brianna Denski) who imagines an incredible amusement park with encouragement from her mom (Jennifer Garner).  When the storyline takes a turn for the worse, June struggles to hold onto her creative energy and joy.

My son was enthralled with Wonder Park from the beginning of the movie to the rolling of the last credit.  This isn’t surprising, though.  He easily relates to June’s spunk, inventiveness and can-do attitude.  Many kids will be able to relate to her while daydreaming of sliding down bending straws.

While my son was immersed in the whimsey of Wonder Park, I found myself lost in the middle.  The transition from reality into the deteriorating world of Wonder Park is confusing.  The jump back into reality is even more disjointed.

The animation is about what you would expect from a movie catering to children.  The actors did an excellent job bringing the adorable characters to life.  Unfortunately, the one thing missing from this movie is a strong plot.

Overall, Wonder Park is perfect for theme park loving, creative kiddos everywhere.  Parents, come prepared with a few tissues in your pocket and expect to check your watch once or twice in the middle.
